This paper determines the importance of the society's intellectual potential for the economic development of Ukraine and shows the role of motivation in forming and using the intellectual potential of Ukrainian enterprises. The author distinguishes motivational factors to encourage knowledge workers to do a better job, presents  the results of the motivational monitoring in the Cherkassy region and identifies the need for the rational use of employees' intellectual abilities.
