In this article the author considers the problems of higher professional education development in the conditions of the innovative economy evolving, as well as possible ways of its transformation with regard to global trends in the world economic space. The author substantiates the effectiveness of the modular system of specialist training in applied higher education institutions, both for an individual student and for the nation as a whole.
