        <p>The article deals with one of the global problems of nowadays - increasing concentration of CO[2] in the atmosphere. The contribution of vehicles as the leading suppliers of carbon dioxide is evaluated. The basic ways of reducing CO[2] emissions from automobiles are formulated. An approach to improve the current system of taxation of petroleum products is suggested as impact on reducing CO[2] emissions by motor fuel combustion.</p>
