The analysis of territorial organization of the power engineering branch of Russian Federation by Regions is performed. This analysis confirms the correspondence between united power systems (UPS) extended by the administrative principle and Federal Regions. It is defined the specifics of the UPS conventionally presented by three groups: power regions of European part and Ural having a developed system of regional and interregional power lines; power regions of Siberia and Far East having a weak system of interregional lines and that is why working more or less autonomously: separated power systems without any interregional lines and working completely autonomously
